Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Respite Caregiver to provide vital support and relief to families and individuals in need of temporary care. In this role, you will deliver personalized assistance with daily activities, ensure safety, and promote well-being in a variety of settings including private homes, group homes, assisted living facilities, and community programs. Duties
- Provide attentive care and supervision for clients during scheduled respite periods, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident's lifts
- Monitor patients' vital signs and observe changes in health status, documenting findings accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding as necessary
- Support medication administration following care plans and ensure proper documentation of all treatments
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
- Engage clients in social activities or therapeutic exercises to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Follow established care plans meticulously while adapting to each client's unique needs and preferences
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals such as nurses or social workers to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere strictly to HIPAA guidelines throughout all caregiving activities
Experience
- Prior experience working in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer's), memory care, autism support, and hospice care
- Hands-on experience assisting with ADLs, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and patient monitoring systems
- Familiarity with working with people with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized support
- Experience using care equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident's lifts for safe patient handling
- Background in heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper body mechanics is advantageous
- Knowledge of care planning processes and working within HIPAA compliance standards is essential
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as nursing assistant training or social work background are a plus
