Orthodontic Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring a positive experience for our patients while assisting the orthodontist in providing high-quality care. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during procedures, including the placement and adjustment of braces and other orthodontic appliances.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols.
• Take X-rays and assist with diagnostic procedures as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Educate patients and their families on proper oral hygiene practices and care for orthodontic appliances.
• Manage patient flow within the office, ensuring timely appointments and effective communication with patients regarding their treatment plans.
• Perform administrative tasks as needed, including scheduling appointments and coordinating patient follow-ups.
• Monitor vital signs when necessary, ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit.

Experience

• Previous experience as an Orthodontic Assistant or in a similar dental assisting role is preferred.
• Familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus, as the position may involve working with younger patients.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and protocols is essential.
• Experience with dental receptionist duties is advantageous for managing patient interactions effectively.
• Proficiency in using dental systems for record keeping and appointment scheduling is preferred.
• Understanding of various dental specialties such as Endodontics and Prosthodontics can enhance performance in this role.
