OnCare Digital Assets, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Laboratory Technician to join our Radiological Services Facility in Appleton, WI. This position supports the day-to-day operations of our radiation safety program, playing a key role in leak testing, contamination control, radioactive material management, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will thrive in a technical environment that emphasizes precision, accountability, and proactive communication.

Key Responsibilities: Radiation Safety and Analytical Duties:

  • Prepare samples for Liquid Scintillation Radionuclide Analysis
  • Perform radioactive sealed source leak tests in accordance with regulatory and internal procedures.
  • Conduct weekly radiation and contamination surveys using calibrated detection instruments.
  • Assemble, label, and distribute sealed source leak test kits for internal and external clients.
  • Ship and receive radioactive source leak test kits in compliance with DOT and IATA regulations.
  • Assist with incoming and outgoing radioactive source shipments, including inspection, packaging, and documentation.
  • Support RSO-led training classes, including preparing training materials (e.g., PowerPoint presentations), organizing sessions, and assisting participants.
  • Perform semi-annual physical inventories and leak tests of all licensed sealed radioactive sources.
  • Track and manage source inventories using RADMAN – SourceTrax software, ensuring accurate, real-time updates.

Recordkeeping and Compliance:

  • Maintain detailed employee occupational exposure records, including dosimetry and time-motion studies.
  • Update and maintain instrument calibration logs for all radiation monitoring equipment.
  • Prepare and archive reports, logs, and certificates using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Manage email communication and scheduling using Outlook.
  • Assist with documentation and preparation for regulatory audits and inspections (NRC, DOT, state agencies).

Client Support and Communication:

  • Serve as a key point of contact for leak test clients, offering guidance, status updates, and delivering test results.
  • Respond professionally and promptly to client inquiries via phone and email using Outlook.

Radioactive Source Management:

  • Maintain comprehensive, compliant records of all sources using RADMAN – SourceTrax software.
  • Conduct semi-annual inventories and leak testing of all sealed sources per licensing requirements.
  • Coordinate labeling, movement, tracking, and disposition of sources in accordance with state and federal regulations.

General Laboratory Support:

  • Perform daily lab maintenance including equipment upkeep, cleaning, and inventory control.
  • Follow lab safety and hygiene practices; ensure proper use of PPE.
  • Assist with additional projects and duties as assigned by the Business Manager or RSO.

Qualifications:Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma (Required)
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Radiological Science, Health Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field (Preferred)
  • Prior experience in a radiological laboratory or radiation safety program preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite:
  • Excel – for data analysis, inventory logs, and reports
  • Word – for documentation, SOPs, and communications
  • PowerPoint – for training and presentation materials
  • Outlook – for professional communication and scheduling
  • Familiarity with RADMAN – SourceTrax or similar radioactive source tracking software.
  • Knowledge of radiation protection principles and regulatory requirements (NRC, DOT, OSHA).
  • Experience operating and maintaining radiation survey instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and perform moderate physical tasks.
  • Manual dexterity to handle small parts and laboratory instruments.
  • Must be able to wear lab PPE including gloves, coats, and dosimeters.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a laboratory and office setting with occasional exposure to radioactive materials under controlled and monitored conditions.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and radiation protection standards is required.
