Position Summary
The Lead Automotive Technician / Shop Foreman plays a critical role in overseeing daily service shop operations while maintaining hands-on technical excellence. This position is responsible for ensuring efficient workflow, high-quality repairs, technician development, and a professional, organized shop environment. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician, a strong leader, and a steward of West End Auto Works' reputation for integrity, precision, and customer trust.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic evaluations, maintenance, and repairs on a wide variety of vehicles with a high level of technical accuracy.
- Lead and oversee daily operations within the service shop to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of repair orders.
- Coordinate closely with the Service Advisor and management team to communicate official diagnoses, repair timelines, parts needs, and customer updates.
- Assign, delegate, and prioritize work among technicians based on skill level, workload, and shop needs.
- Conduct final quality inspections on completed repairs to ensure all work meets company standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior technicians to support skill development and maintain quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with company policies related to cleanliness, organization, and safety.
- Monitor shop tools, equipment, and supplies; report maintenance needs, replacements, and general inventory requirements.
- Support and champion process improvements that enhance shop productivity, technician efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Represent West End Auto Works' commitment to integrity, quality workmanship, and exceptional automotive repair hospitality in all daily interactions.
Qualifications & Experience
- 8+ years of professional automotive repair experience, with demonstrated advanced diagnostic and repair skills.
- Ability to lead by example while maintaining high standards of workmanship and professionalism.
- Prior leadership, foreman, or senior technician experience preferred.
- Professional automotive certifications (ASE) are preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of shop workflow, repair documentation, and quality control processes.
- Excellent communication skills with both technicians and service advisors.
- Commitment to safety, organization, and continuous improvement.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record REQUIRED.
- Own professional tools REQUIRED.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65, $70,000.00 per year
