ROLE SUMMARY: The Maze Supervisor oversees daily operations of the Cowtown Cattlepen Maze, ensuring a safe, organized, and welcoming experience for guests. This role serves as the primary on-site operational contact during operating hours, coordinates group and tour logistics, and ensures operational standards are met. The Maze Supervisor supports frontline staff performance and communicates operational updates and needs to management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee daily maze operations, including opening and closing procedures, readiness checks, and operational flow.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for guests, school groups, tour operators, and vendors during operating hours.
- Ensure guest safety standards are consistently upheld, including rule enforcement, crowd flow management, and emergency response protocols.
- Coordinate group arrivals and check-ins, supporting school tours, group visits, and special events.
- Monitor cash handling procedures, ticket sales reconciliation, and basic inventory levels in accordance with company policy.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards throughout the maze and surrounding guest areas.
- Identify, document, and report maintenance, safety, staffing, or guest service issues in a timely manner.
- Complete daily operational reports, incident documentation, and shift communications for management review.
- Model professionalism, hospitality, and service excellence in all guest interactions.
- All other duties as assigned.
ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously throughout the maze and guest areas for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs regularly.
- Ability to navigate uneven terrain, narrow pathways, and high-traffic guest environments.
- Visual and auditory ability to monitor guest behavior and respond to safety concerns.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
- This position directly supervises Maze Attendants.
- Responsible for assigning daily tasks, coordinating breaks, and ensuring adequate staffing coverage.
- Provides on-the-job training, guidance, and performance support to Maze Attendants.
- Ensures staff compliance with safety procedures, operational standards, and guest service expectations.
- Serves as the first point of escalation for staff questions, guest concerns, and operational issues during shifts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities
- Ability to manage operations in a fast-paced, high-traffic attraction environment
- Experience handling cash, ticketing, and basic inventory tracking
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to guest safety and operational consistency
- Flexible schedule required, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and peak visitation periods
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with guests, staff, and management
- Ability to embody and demonstrate organizational Core Values
- Prior supervisory, lead, or shift-lead experience
- Experience in tourism, attractions, events, or entertainment environments
- Experience working with school groups or large group visits
- Familiarity with basic reporting systems, scheduling tools, or point-of-sale systems
