General Laborer

Job Title: General Laborer – Steel Industry

Location: Piedmont Metals, Burlington, NC

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Job Summary:

Piedmont Metals is seeking a hardworking and reliable General Laborer to assist in the cleaning, organizing, and handling of finished and unfinished steel parts. This role will provide essential support to welders and fabricators, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and be comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in cleaning and organizing steel parts before and after fabrication.
• Support welders by moving, positioning, and holding materials during welding and assembly.
• Remove slag, spatter, and debris from welded parts to ensure a smooth finish.
• Operate basic hand and power tools to grind, deburr, or prepare materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring materials and tools are properly stored.
• Assist in loading and unloading materials for production.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE to maintain a hazard-free environment.
• Perform other general labor tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a manufacturing or steel fabrication environment preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Familiarity with hand tools, grinders, and material handling equipment is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Willingness to learn and work in a team-oriented environment.
• Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
• Work in a warehouse or shop environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, and heavy materials.
