We are seeking a
Site Supervisor
to lead daily lab animal vivarium operations within the Cambridge, MA area and serve as the on-site ambassador of Mispro's commitment to service, scientific partnership, and humane animal care.
About the Role
As the Site Supervisor, you will oversee the daily performance of our vivarium operations and the team members responsible for delivering exceptional husbandry services. In this role, you are both a hands-on operational leader and a trusted partner to our research clients—ensuring efficient facility operations, supporting the scientific workflow, and maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and regulatory compliance.
You will collaborate closely with Mispro's Operations, Quality Assurance, and Business Development teams to support, grow, and continuously strengthen site operations. This role is well-suited for someone who is operationally minded, people-focused, and passionate about supporting science through service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Operations Oversight
- Provide daily supervision, coaching, and support to the Animal Care and Cage Wash Technician teams.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality execution of vivarium services including daily checks, cage changes, sanitation, animal receipt, and facility upkeep.
- Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment aligned with Mispro's values.
Partnering With Our Research Community
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact supporting client research activities and operational needs.
- Maintain strong, transparent relationships with clients while ensuring timely support for in vivo workflows.
- Represent Mispro as the local site lead for operations, business, and partnership teams.
Facility, Compliance & Quality
- Coordinate and maintain documentation of preventive maintenance for the vivarium physical plant.
- Ensure full compliance with institutional (IACUC, QA), municipal, federal (PHS, USDA), and AAALACi standards.
- Support inspections, audits, and quality assurance reviews.
Budget, Reporting & Administrative Oversight
- Manage site-level budgeting for supplies, census reporting, and chargebacks.
- Support internal reporting, data tracking, and operational metrics for the Cambridge location.
This position involves the ability to lift 50 lbs., perform animal care tasks when necessary, and support weekend/holiday/after-hours operations on a rotational basis.
What You Bring
- 8–12+ years
of experience in laboratory animal science, including
2–5 years in a supervisory leadership role
. - LAT required
; LATg, CMAR, ILAM, or CPIA certifications strongly preferred. - 2- or 4-year degree
in animal science, basic science, or veterinary science required;
advanced degree preferred
. - Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a service-minded approach to partnering with scientists.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, regulated environment with a high level of integrity, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Commitment to humane animal care and adherence to all regulatory and accreditation standards.
