Position Summary

Our client is hiring an experienced and versatile HVAC technician who thrives on solving technical challenges, installing residential HVAC systems, delivering world-class customer service, and identifying sales opportunities. This hybrid role is ideal for someone with a strong background in HVAC service, residential installation, and customer-facing sales.

If you're passionate about craftsmanship, mentoring others, and helping homeowners feel comfortable and informed—this is your opportunity to build a career, not just a job.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair residential HVAC systems with precision and care
  • Perform complete system installations, including split systems, ductwork, furnaces, air handlers, condensers, thermostats, IAQ products, and smart home devices.
  • Recommend system upgrades, service plans, and accessories based on customer needs.
  • Mentor junior techs and apprentices in the field.
  • Support permitting and compliance procedures in accordance with local codes.
  • Participate in rotating on-call/weekend coverage—especially during peak seasons.
  • Support the shop and team when service calls slow (equipment prep, restocking, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong sales and upselling skills in a residential environment.
  • Proven ability to diagnose systems, read schematics, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Willingness to train, lead, and inspire others in the field.
  • Team player with a service-first mindset and a commitment to doing things right
  • Comfortable working in crawlspaces, attics, and all weather conditions.
  • Must own your own HVAC hand tools.
  • Must live within 30 minutes of Oak Park, IL.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Strong personal presentation, hygiene, and customer communication skills.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET).
  • 3–6 years of experience in residential HVAC service and installation.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (NATE certification a plus).
  • Oak Park, Illinois, United States
