Our dynamic logistics company in San Jose, California is seeking an experienced Inventory Control Specialist to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our vast inventory. You will be responsible for implementing robust inventory control systems, conducting audits, and resolving discrepancies. This role is vital for optimizing stock levels, minimizing losses, and ensuring the smooth flow of goods through our distribution center. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, expertise in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and a dedication to upholding the highest standards of Safety. You will work closely with operations and management to drive inventory efficiency and accuracy. Your contributions will directly impact our supply chain's success.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage inventory control procedures and policies.
- Conduct regular cycle counts, physical inventories, and stocktakes.
- Analyze inventory data to identify discrepancies, root causes, and trends.
- Resolve inventory variances promptly and effectively.
- Optimize stock levels, reorder points, and safety stock calculations.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of inventory data within the WMS.
- Collaborate with receiving, shipping, operations, and finance departments.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize inventory shrinkage and obsolescence.
- Train warehouse personnel on inventory control best practices and system usage.
- Maintain a highly organized and safe warehouse environment.
- Strictly adhere to and enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Oversee and assist with tasks requiring significant Lifting and material handling.
- Drive continuous improvement in inventory accuracy and operational efficiency within logistics.
- Promote and ensure a culture of strong workplace Safety.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in inventory control or management.
- In-depth knowledge of WMS, ERP systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proven ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable insights.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles, methods, and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle physical demands, including frequent Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and general logistics.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to upholding Safety standards and procedures.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.
