Sure Antennas Limited are a dynamic and forward-thinking company based in Bromborough in the Wirral. We design, manufacture and supply specialist vehicle antennas, predominantly used by the emergency services and public safety sectors. As we continue to grow, we are now seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to support the R&D manager and the team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our highly skilled development team.
Key responsibilities
Design, develop and support mechanical components and assemblies within R&D.
Support product development from concept through production and field use.
Mechanical designing of components and assemblies for new and existing products.
Creating and maintaining 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
Designing for manufacture and assembly using CNC machining, die casting, moulding, and sheet metal.
Working closely with RF and electronics engineers on integrated designs.
Support prototyping, testing, and design iteration.
Assisting with tolerance analysis, material selection, and finish specification.
Supporting production with build issues, improvements, and cost reduction.
Assisting with environmental, vibration, and ingress protection testing.
Producing clear mechanical documentation and specifications.
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Practical mechanical engineering experience.
Confident in producing manufacturable designs, not just concept CAD.
Understanding of materials, tolerances, and mechanical interfaces.
Ability to work hands‑on with prototypes and production parts.
Clear technical communication and documentation skills.
Additional preferences
Previous experience working with vehicle‑mounted products.
Knowledge of sealing, IP ratings, and vibration resistance.
Exposure to rubber moulding, over moulding, or potting.
CNC machining and die‑cast part design experience.
Basic understanding of electronics or RF packaging.
Experience supporting compliance or environmental testing.
