Dishwasher - Casual

The primary responsibilities of the Dishwasher are to aid in the clearing, cleaning, and the sanitization of all equipment, utensils, and dishes used throughout the day, in accordance with all applicable legislation and United Active Living Inc. standards.

Dishwashing:

• Follow the routines as outlined by the Chef or designate on shift.
• Ensures the cleanliness of all kitchen dishes and utensils, including pots and pans, is maintained according to applicable Public Health and Licensing regulations.
• Ensures the cleanliness of the floors, counters and other surfaces in the Kitchen and Dining areas is maintained according to Public Health and Licensing regulations.
• Ensures that all food is wrapped, labelled and stored according to policies, procedures and Public Health Regulations.
• Ensures garbage and recycling is removed from Kitchen and Dining areas and placed in the appropriate location for collection and removal from building.
• Attends and provides input to the staff meetings and keeps up with personal growth through continuing education (in-services).
• Follows all Health and Safety rules and regulations, including complying with OH&S committee requests, and ensures that all injuries and illnesses are reported and treated. Practices safe work habits and reports or resolves any work hazards as they occur in the course of duty.

Food Preparation:

• Ensuring that all the supplies that will be needed for meals are available and ready for use. This can include preparing some items in advance, or performing simple tasks such as stocking the station with plates and bowls.
• Chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces. Depending on the needs of the kitchen, it may also include prepping food for special events.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience an asset
• Strong oral communication skills.

HOURS OF WORK: This is a casual position, providing weekend coverage to meet the dining needs of residents. Shifts typically between the hours of 6:00 am to 7:30 pm.
