About the Job:
The NABORS member currently hiring is seeking a candidate for 6 hours of regular support, and 2-3 hours of coordinating a week.
Hourly wage starts at 23.34 an hour for regular support hours and coordination starts at 25.46.
Working with an adult woman who lives on her own and collaboratively assisting her to achieve her goals through connecting member into community-based opportunities based on her interests and goals and ultimately building greater independence. Coordinating with member and her team to increase relationship building through her current role in her community. Creating, implementing and fostering a project that keeps her connected to current circle and friends. Building measurable, achievable goals of meeting and building relationships with new friends through community programs. Problem solving with the member when facing challenges and constructing achievable self-supporting solutions that promote independence.
Job Duties for both roles
- Finding and supporting the member to get involved with meaningful, local work or activities and support to create new relationships
- Fostering and engaging community around the member based on her lead
- Building on current relationships and creating new ones for the member
- Overtime creating larger measurable goals with team to expand on above
- Managing, implementing and supporting the member to be successful with her current work and supporting the member to mark with her loved ones special occasions (parents bdays, circle birthdays, important holidays).
- A person willing & able to swim is preferred
- Assisting with personal care, lunch prep and having lunch together at home
- Assisting her with weekly chores assigned by her co-op apartment
- Assisting her to try new activities and meet new people, with the help of her support circle and family
Each shift may start or end either at Bayview/Cummer or Yonge/Eglinton
Requirements:
- 2 doses for the covid vaccine with documentation
- Vulnerable Sector Check (we will assist with this)
- Valid emergency First Aid and CPR certification
- Comfortable and eager to learn, with an open mind to share gifts and talents with another person
- While not required, an interest in music would be an asset
- Patience and encouragement about trying new things.
- Energetic, enthusiastic support approach
- Enjoyment of community activities and events
- Good initiative and ability to work independently.
Comfortable with personal care
Committed to providing person-centered care in an authentic way that is meaningful to the supported member.
- Committed to working as an extension of the supported member.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to take initiative and work independently to set goals and priorities outlined by the supported member.. Ability and comfort to plan, prioritize, organize tasks and work with limited direct day-to-day supervision.
- Confident self starter who can create, motivate, be hands on and inspire independently and demonstrate exercising independent judgment.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.· Strong skills in conflict resolution with the ability to apply sound problem solving where needed.
This position reports to the supported member's circle of family and unpaid friends.
The hiring is conditional upon clearing a Vulnerable Sector Police check. Emergency First Aid & CPR will be required.
