Who we are:
The Ministry of Natural Resources Lake Ontario Management Unit (LOMU) is located at the Glenora Fisheries Station near Picton Ontario. LOMU works collaboratively with a wide variety of partners, environmental organizations, private resource sector industry, fish and game associations, researchers, and other government agencies of all levels. The area of fisheries management interest includes all of Fisheries Management Zone 20 (FMZ20) which includes Lake Ontario the lower Niagara River, the Bay of Quinte and the upper St. Lawrence River including Lake St. Francis (Fisheries Management Zone 20 (FMZ 20) | ).

About the job

In this role, you will:

  • provide financial and administrative support for the unit
  • serve as a liaison between the unit and internal and external clients
  • participate on the financial management team working group
  • prepare and process various human resources forms
What you bring to the team
Administrative skills

You can:

  • operate general office equipment (e.g. photocopier, facsimile, etc.).
  • complete forms and process a variety of transactions.
  • design and maintain a filing system.
  • coordinate meeting logistics (e.g. meals, accommodations, facilities, etc.).
  • maintain an inventory of office supplies.
Financial skills

You have:

  • the ability to draft, forecast and monitor a budget.
  • experience processing journal entries and tracking expenditures.
  • the ability to compile a variety of financial reports.
  • attention to detail and accuracy to ensure financial data and transactions are correct.
Communication and computer skills

You have:

  • oral communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external clients.
  • written communication to prepare a variety of documents (e.g. statistical reports, presentations, letters, spreadsheets, etc.).
  • computer proficiency skills with various programs, databases and systems.
Judgement and organizational skills
  • You are able to exercise tact, discretion and good judgement while working independently.
  • You organizational skills to prioritize your workload and meet deadlines in a high volume environment.
