Essential Functions
Engineering & Product Development
- Lead and manage engineering deliverables through all stages of the product development process for sheet metal components and assemblies.
- Develop detailed 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks (or similar CAD software) that align with manufacturing and quality standards.
- Ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of designs through collaboration with production and fabrication teams.
- Analyze product designs and recommend improvements to enhance performance, reduce cost, and improve quality.
- Support prototype development, design validation, and testing to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Gather and research information regarding current customer needs for the purpose of conceptualizing, visualizing, and developing ideas for improvements to existing products and new products.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work collaboratively across multiple functional groups within High Bar Brands, including Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Operations, and Customer Service.
- Partner with the production team to ensure a smooth transition from design to manufacturing.
- Provide technical guidance to support new product launches and continuous improvement projects.
Problem Solving & Process Improvement
- Investigate and resolve engineering or production-related issues by performing root cause analysis, FEA and implementing corrective actions.
- Drive the design and development of test fixtures or tools for validating product designs and production processes.
- Apply structured problem-solving methodologies to ensure long-term reliability and efficiency in sheet metal products.
Project Management
- Approach all projects with an ownership mindset and accountability for timelines, budgets, and results.
- Support project leaders to ensure efficient, high-quality, and profitable project execution.
- Maintain accurate and complete project documentation in alignment with company standards.
Other Duties
- Participate in design reviews and technical meetings as required.
- Travel occasionally to suppliers, customers, production sites, etc. (up to 15%).
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of sheet metal design, fabrication, and finishing processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in root cause analysis and using FMEA.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Passion for trucks, automotive design, and precision-engineered metal products.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in product or project engineering within a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with stainless steel fabrication, welding, forming, and assembly.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD design software.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, material properties, and GD&T standards.
