Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre Inc. has an opportunity available for a Sport and Recreation/Administration Intern to join our team

This internship is designed for students currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution (college or university) and is a required component of their academic program. Students must be eligible to complete this internship through their school in order to be considered.

As a Sport and Recreation/Administration Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn about the administrative, logistical, and operational aspects of the Sport and Recreation and Administration Department. You will gain insight into the departments' daily operations and develop a practical understanding of the sport and recreation and high-performance sport environment through hands-on experience in program delivery, event coordination, and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, format, and proofread internal documents, reports, presentations, and correspondence
  • Conduct research and compile data to support reports, presentations, and strategic planning
  • Maintain organized filing systems—both physical and digital—for departmental records and documents
  • Support the Administration team with data entry, tracking, and database maintenance
  • Assist in the planning, organization, and delivery of sport and recreational programs and activities along with daily administrative tasks.
  • Perform general administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and schedule coordination.
  • Provide on-site operational support during events, tournaments, and programs.
  • Shadow staff across the Organization's key operational areas including Aquatics, Fitness Centre, and Field House to gain insight into departmental workflows.
  • Support customer service efforts by engaging with various members and help addressing general inquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Assist with facility setup, takedown, and equipment management for programs and planning and delivery of events.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by assisting with various duties that support the overall success of the department.

  • Coordinate and support the delivery of various sport and recreation events, programs, and services as part of a hands-on learning experience.

  • Enhance time management, problem-solving, and project coordination skills applicable to future careers.
  • Evaluate job shadowing and placement experiences to explore and identify potential career opportunities within the sport and recreation sector.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in full-time studies in a post-secondary program (Sport Management, Recreation, Kinesiology, or closely related field)
  • Legally authorized to participate in a work placement in Canada
  • Demonstrates passion for sport, health, and community recreation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Proactive, dependable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor
  • A police vulnerable sector check is required for the successful candidate

Term & Honorarium:
Internship may be 2 or 4 months in duration, depending on your academic program requirements. Students will receive an honorarium of up to $1,500 upon successful completion of the internship

Placement Dates & Location:

This internship will take place at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, located at 875 Morningside Avenue, Scarborough, ON M1C 0C7

Internship term will be January 2026 to April 2026 depending on your academic program requirements
