Bayside Variety Kitchen & Bar is a premium casual restaurant located in the heart of downtown Barrie, known for our seasonally inspired, modern continental menu, curated wine list, and craft cocktails. We're looking for a passionate, experienced Sous Chef to join our leadership team and help drive consistency, quality, and kitchen culture.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a strong kitchen leader with a hands-on approach, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for food and hospitality. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and is excited to grow within a high-quality, team-driven kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and service execution
• Lead and mentor BOH team members during prep and service
• Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation of all dishes
• Maintain clean, organized stations and overall kitchen standards
• Assist with prep, ordering, inventory, and cost control
• Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
• Step into a leadership role during service and in the Head Chef's absence

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in a professional kitchen, including leadership or senior line roles
• Previous Sous Chef experience is an asset
• Culinary education or formal training is an asset
• Strong knife skills and solid understanding of cooking techniques
• Proven ability to lead calmly in a fast-paced environment
• Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Passionate about food, hospitality, and team development
