Über

Harbour Veterinary Clinic is a community-focused, low-cost veterinary clinic committed to keeping pets healthy and in their homes. We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and reliable Veterinary Assistant to support both our front-of-house client care and our medical team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and animals, is comfortable multitasking, and wants to be part of a mission-driven clinic.

Key Responsibilities

Client Care & Reception

  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and respond to client inquiries
  • Greet and check in clients and patients
  • Collect and enter client and patient information accurately
  • Update medical records and ensure documentation is complete
  • Process payments and assist with basic administrative tasks
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, including those in stressful situations

Clinical Support

  • Obtain and record TPRs
  • Safely and confidently restrain animals for exams, treatments, and procedures
  • Assist veterinarians and RVTs during appointments and procedures
  • Prepare exam rooms and help maintain a clean, organized clinical space
  • Support patient flow and help keep the clinic running efficiently

Rescue Support (team culture):

  • Basic care for on-site rescue cats/kittens as needed (feeding, litter, sanitation).
  • Help us maintain a calm, fear-aware environment for patients and rescues.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year in a veterinary assistant role with surgery exposure (spay/neuter or GP/ER surgery).
  • Comfort with restraint, surgical prep/pack, room turnover.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in high-volume spay/neuter or shelter medicine.
  • DaySmart Vet Software
  • Cat-handling chops (we see lots of them).
  • Basic lab skills (fecals, SNAP tests, urinalysis preps) and radiology positioning.

Schedule & Benefits

  • Schedule: 4 days/week, ~10-hour shifts (3-day weekends) + occasional rotating weekends.
