Position Overview
Jenkyns Electric is seeking a motivated and dependable Service Electrician to support and grow our expanding Service Division. While our company has a strong foundation in construction, this role is focused on service-based electrical work in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. The ideal candidate is skilled at identifying electrical issues, interpreting wiring diagrams, and providing practical, code-compliant solutions while maintaining clear communication with customers and internal teams. This position is well-suited for a professional who takes pride in quality workmanship, reliability, and delivering a positive service experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and systems across residential, commercial, and industrial settings
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control systems, including relays, sensors, motors, and VFDs
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
- Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections
- Identify root causes of system failures and implement long-term solutions
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding issues, repairs, timelines, and recommendations
- Complete service documentation accurately using digital tools (iPad/tablet-based forms)
- Coordinate with office staff, supervisors, and other technicians as required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow all company policies, safety standards, and industry best practices
- Represent the company professionally at all job sites
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding issues, solutions, and recommendations
- Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled
- Demonstrate initiative in learning new systems, tools, and technologies
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Service Technician (residential, commercial, or industrial)
- Strong troubleshooting skills, especially with controls and electrical systems
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service mindset
- Comfortable using tablets, digital work orders, and reporting systems
- Valid Journeyman license and Red Seal certificate
- Ability to lift, climb, and work in varying environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous electrical service or maintenance experience
- Experience working directly with customers in a service environment
- Experience with industrial controls, PLCs, or automation systems

- Full-time position
- Participation in an on-call rotation is required
