About the Role

We are a newly established, community‑focused family practice. This role is ideal for someone who leads with empathy, communicates clearly, and upholds strong professionalism while comfortably wearing multiple hats in a small, steady clinic. You will:

  • Support physicians and nurse practitioners in delivering timely, patient‑centred care.
  • Help set up and refine practical workflows (check‑in, results handling, stock and vaccine logs) and maintain safe, tidy exam rooms.
  • Adapt to variable patient volumes at launch and step in across both front‑desk and clinical tasks as needed.

What You'll Do - Patient Care & Clinical Support

  • Greet, room, and prepare patients with warmth and sensitivity; practice trauma‑informed, culturally safe care.
  • Perform observations and basic measurements: vital signs, weight, height, BMI, waist circumference, and urinalysis (dipstick).
  • Phlebotomy/venipuncture: collect specimens, label, and coordinate transport per lab protocols (asset if currently competent).
  • Administer injections (e.g., vaccines, B12, medications) under medical directives and within scope, following cold chain, consent, and documentation standards (if competent).
  • Conduct additional tasks as trained/authorized: ECGs, rapid tests, swabs, point‑of‑care tests, vision/hearing screens, dressing changes, suture removal.
  • Prepare and turn over exam rooms; disinfect, stock supplies, and maintain equipment.
  • Follow infection prevention and control (IPAC) procedures and safety protocols at all times.

Coordination & Communication

  • Provide clear, compassionate communication to patients in person, by phone, and via secure messaging; support navigation, instructions, and follow‑up.
  • Coordinate referrals, e‑faxing, requisitions, recalls, reminders, and specialist/diagnostic bookings.
  • Manage results and messages in Juno EMR appropriately (assign, flag, and document per clinic policy).
  • Support physicians with forms completion workflows and chart preparation.
  • Use de‑escalation skills tactfully; maintain a calm, professional presence.

Administration & Operations

  • Front desk coverage: check‑in/out, OHIP/third‑party billing details at intake, appointment scheduling, and payment processing for uninsured services.
  • Scan, index, and maintain accurate electronic charts; uphold PHIPA privacy/confidentiality.
  • Inventory management: order, receive, and rotate supplies; maintain vaccine logs and cold chain records.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI), safety huddles, and process optimization.

What You Bring

  • 1+ year experience in a primary care, family practice, community clinic, or ambulatory care setting (preferred).
  • Demonstrated empathy, listening, and clear written/verbal communication; excellent patient rapport.
  • Strong professionalism, discretion, and reliability with a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset.
  • Solid organization and time management; able to prioritize in a fast‑paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with technology; Juno EMR experience is an asset (training provided). Proficiency with email, e‑fax, and Microsoft/Google tools.
  • Clinical competencies (assets): phlebotomy/venipuncture; administering injections; ECG; POCT.
  • Current CPR (Level C/BLS) and proof of immunization per Ontario guidance (or willingness to update).
  • Diploma/certificate in Medical Office Administration/Assisting or relevant healthcare training preferred.
  • International Medical Graduates (IMGs) with relevant clinical experience are welcome to apply.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of Ontario primary care pathways and community resources.
