Early Childhood Educator Assistant(ECEA)

About the Opportunity

We are opening a warm, modern, child-centred daycare in Quesnel, BC, and we are currently assessing applicant availability as part of our planning process. If you enjoy working with children and want to be part of a friendly new centre from its very first day, we would love to hear from you.

This posting helps us determine the local talent pool. Serious applicants may be considered for early interviews before the centre officially opens.

Your Responsibilities

As an ECEA, you will work under the supervision of certified ECEs to support both learning and daily routines. Your duties include:

Childcare & Daily Routines

• Assist with diapering, feeding, and comforting children
• Help children during transitions (arrival, playtime, naps, snacks, etc.)
• Support children with emotional regulation and social skills

Program & Learning Support

• Help implement play-based, age-appropriate learning activities
• Support creative play, storytelling, crafts, outdoor time, and exploration
• Encourage curiosity, independence, and kindness

Health & Safety

• Maintain clean, safe, and organized play areas
• Help maintain daily logs and communication records
• Follow BC childcare licensing regulations

Teamwork & Family Communication

• Work collaboratively with lead ECEs
• Greet families with warmth and professionalism
• Contribute to a positive, respectful workplace culture

Qualifications

• Valid ECEA Certificate (or proof of application in progress)
• Valid Childcare First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain)
• Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
• Genuine love for children and a patient, nurturing personality
• Experience in childcare is an asset but not mandatory
