This Position reports to:
Senior Engineering Manager
We are seeking a Project Engineer for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) to join our high-performance team . AMRs are transforming intralogistics, and ABB is at the forefront of that change. As adoption accelerates, we’re investing in the UK to deliver high-impact projects with world-class tools. From our Flexley AMR portfolio to the AMR Studio and Fleet Manager, we combine advanced navigation, safety‑certified sensing, dynamic traffic management and mission planning, with seamless order handling and performance metrics. Our platform approach helps manufacturers move materials safer, faster and smarter. In this role, you’ll drive innovation with cutting‑edge technology and work alongside global experts shaping the future of robotics. Location: ABB facilities in Milton Keynes, with travel to client sites across the UK and occasional travel to Spain.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Deliver end-to-end AMR projects: site surveys, mapping, mission flows, commissioning, validation, and handover
Configure fleet and traffic management using AMR Studio / Fleet Manager
Integrate with systems (PLCs, WMS/WES/MES, safety I/O, scanners) and resolve issues on-site with GSC support
Act as technical contact during trials, cutovers, and early‑life support in collaboration with GSC Spain
Ensure safety, quality, and documentation for robust, scalable solutions
Qualifications for the Role
Engineering degree and hands‑on experience in automation/robotics or intralogistics projects
Solid knowledge of engineering techniques, processes, and tools, including PLC programming (IEC61131, structured text)
Understanding of navigation/mission design, fleet concepts and industrial networking
A calm, customer-focused problem solver with clear communication skills, thriving both on‑site and in collaboration with project teams in Milton Keynes and Spain
Flexibility to travel across the UK and Spain (valid UK driving licence)
