Please note: The starting salary offer will be determined based on the successful candidate's qualifications, within the annual salary range of $98,000 to $126,000.

Hybrid: Our physical office is in Olympia, WA. We offer flexible work schedules and locations. This is a hybrid position where most of the work allows teleworking. However, you must reside in the state of Washington and travel to in-person activities, meetings, and events as needed for business purposes.

The job opportunity
We are seeking a Configuration Management Specialist who is attentive to detail and passionate about well-organized systems, truly making an impact. As a Configuration Management Specialist, you'll play a primary role in bringing a cutting-edge, cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution to life. In this position, you'll guide and support day-to-day configuration management across multiple ERP tenant environments, ensuring everything aligns with established policies, processes, and procedures. You'll document configurations clearly and accurately and work closely with implementers and internal partners to keep configuration activities moving smoothly—from planning and identification to review, approval, communication, and verification. Collaboration is at the heart of this role, and you'll have regular opportunities to share insights, solve problems, and contribute to a modern, inclusive workplace culture.

Duties

What you will work on
Governance & Oversight of Configuration Management

  • Coordinate reviews and updates of the Workday Configuration Management Plan.
  • Chair the Configuration Control Board (CCB); schedule, organize, and facilitate CCB meetings.
  • Monitor configuration management processes for compliance, identify and report non-compliance; escalate issues as needed.
  • Coordinate configuration management audits; document findings and develop corrective action plans.
  • Work with configuration teams to ensure complete and accurate documentation for minor and major configuration changes.

Configuration Change Management & Request Processing

  • Identify, log, evaluate, and direct incoming configuration management service requests.
  • Identify, document, and baseline new configurable items.
  • Coordinate requests for change and ensure appropriate routing.
  • Configure tools and maintain documentation required for logging and executing configuration changes.
  • Participate in deployment processes for Workday enhancements and updates, including configuration planning, testing readiness, and deployment activities.

Environment Monitoring & Operational Support

  • Monitor Workday tenant environments to ensure availability meets service-level thresholds.
  • Provide outage and system status communication to users; follow escalation protocols.
  • Assist with documenting standard operating procedures for ERP system administration as the post–go-live Named Support Contact (NSC).

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and recommend enhancements to configuration management processes.
  • Create documentation, workflow diagrams, charts, and artifacts illustrating processes.
  • Lead or support the design and development of configuration management tools and templates.
  • Assist with developing metrics, critical success factors, and key performance indicators; gather data and prepare associated reports.
Qualifications

What you need to bring:
Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Workday configuration, tenant structure, and system functionality.
  • Experience with configuration management principles, baselining, and change control processes.
  • Ability to monitor system performance, interpret logs, and support issue escalation and resolution.
  • Proficiency with tools used for tracking configuration items, service requests, and changing workflows (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow, SharePoint).
  • Skilled in analyzing data, developing metrics, and generating reports and dashboards.
  • Ability to support testing cycles, including configuration validation, defect tracking, and deployment readiness.
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills, including SOPs, process diagrams, and configuration records.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional work with technical and business teams.
  • Ability to conduct training and promote understanding of configuration policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to support process improvement initiatives and enhance configuration management tools and workflows.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years of professional experience in managing or maintaining system configuration.
