Job Summary

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Standardized Patient Coordinator to join our team of professionals.

Duties include:

  • Coordinates and assists with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and training Standardized Patients (SP)s. Provides feedback on their performance in collaboration with the SP Educator.
  • Responsible for working with simulation leadership to develop custom training materials. Assists in developing and designing cases and scenarios for teaching assessment activities involving SPs. Delivers training to SPs on case performance, checklist grading, and provision of verbal and written feedback. Implements dry runs or rehearsals with the standardized patients prior to the event.
  • Maintains inventory of gowns, linens, and SP props and coordinates laundry pick-up and delivery. Notifies and assists with SP-related procurement.
  • Prepares and updates materials for each standardized patient encounter, such as assignments, scenarios, checklists, handouts, evaluations, schedules, and room assignments. Maintains SP databases of cases, materials, and assessment tools.
  • Prepares and updates meeting agendas, coordinates meetings for the SP program, and updates the Sim Center Calendar for SP events.
  • Assists with quality improvement initiatives for the assessment of standardized patients. Monitors SP exercises for SP portrayal and documentation accuracy and reports findings to the SP Educator and program leadership.
  • Tracks and documents all SP activities for budget and utilization data collection.
  • Coordinates SP newsletter and SP development activities and updates the bulletin boards and information notices.
  • Operates all technical resources, including Educational Management Solutions (EMS), to facilitate the teaching and evaluation of medical students, PA students, and other affiliates.
  • Assists with room and equipment set-up and breakdown for simulation events and tours. Facilitates educational and simulation scholarship activities.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability by being prepared to step in as a SP if cancellations occur or additional SPs are needed.
  • Performs essential duties in emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
  • Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree.
