Job Identification
Deliver ready-mix concrete and other associated products to construction sites within our production areas. This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient delivery of ready-mix concrete.
Description
- Perform daily Department of Transportation pre- and post-trip truck inspection including checking all fluids such as oil and antifreeze
- Perform routine plant maintenance tasks, general cleaning, use small power tools and manual labor hand tools.
- Receive delivery ticket. Review for address and directions as well as any additional products needed for the job. Clarify any concerns with dispatcher
- Add various ingredients such as fiber, admixtures, and other products as directed on delivery ticket
- Check slumps and mix of concrete
- Place chutes from fender to main chute of truck
- Have delivery ticket signed and assure all information required is written down
- Responsible for collecting C.O.D. deliveries in full and return to the Company.
- Wash truck down after unloading into designated area, per contractor or plant location
- Communicate well with dispatchers throughout the delivery process
- Refuel truck as needed and every evening at the end of the shift
Additional Expectations:
- Ability to safely and accurately maneuver trucks in uneven and poor terrain while backing or pulling into job site
- Able to work flexible hours and shifts and be reliable and punctual. The employee must also be willing and able to work long hours up to the maximum hours allowed of services permitted by DOT and state law, including but not limited to, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.
Physical Demands:
- Climb in and out of the truck approximately 50 times per day.
- Lift 80 pounds, including but not limited to lift chutes and other related CMV/job related items.
- Able to regularly climb heights of up 13 feet on a ready-mix truck, using the truck steps and ladder, work on a truck catwalk at an elevated height, in a ready-mix truck you must step down into the truck cab.
- Pull down the main chute and attach up to four additional chutes at each job site.
- Each chute weighs approximately 80 pounds and requires 80 pounds of force to lift and secure.
- Release chute straps stored on the truck fender
- May be required to climb ladders and catwalks that may be between 6-110 feet above the ground
- Ability to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, and crawl
Environmental Conditions
- Must be able to tolerate, with or without accommodation:
- Exposure to extreme weather conditions
- High noise levels and significant vibrations associated with construction equipment and overall job site activities
- Walking and working of varied rough terrain conditions
- May be exposed to construction related chemicals, this environment can include, but is not limited to, dust and other typical industrial conditions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid State-Issued Driver's License, Class A or B
- Candidates must be willing and able to undergo a pre-employment background check, MVR overview, physical/DOT. and drug/alcohol testing. Ongoing compliance is required.
- Proficiently read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to understand and read GPS from company issued tablet.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, including:
- Management, supervisors, and peers
- People at various social levels
- Demonstrate the ability to perform job functions in accordance with Company policies and management directives, including adherence to personal appearance standards, safety protocols, and P.P.E. requirements, while promptly reporting any unsafe conditions, accidents, or incidents to your direct report.
- Must be able to take orders, instructions and guidance from management and supervisors
- Proficient basic math skills, e.g. addition, subtraction, fractions, and percentages
- Maintain driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations and company policy
- Required to have an active phone with texting or email capabilities to ensure reliable communication during work hours (Note: Usage must comply with the Ernst Cell Phone Policy, Federal, & State regulations and may not interfere with safe operation of company vehicles).
