Role Summary:

The Building & Property Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and appearance of all dealership buildings, grounds, and facilities at Orchid Isle Ford.

This role ensures the dealership's property is safe, functional, and visually appealing for customers and employees. The Maintenance Technician performs a wide variety of repair and maintenance tasks – from general building repairs and landscaping to equipment maintenance and vendor coordination – while maintaining pride, care, and attention to detail in their work.

Key Responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance

  • Perform general building repairs including plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, lighting, and basic carpentry.
  • Maintain dealership systems such as HVAC, lighting, and irrigation; coordinate with professional vendors for specialized repairs.
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and shop areas to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.
  • Maintain and repair tools, fixtures, and facility equipment as needed.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and OSHA regulations.

Grounds & Property Upkeep

  • Maintain the dealership's exterior appearance, including landscaping, pressure washing, and debris removal.
  • Perform minor concrete, fencing, and parking lot repairs when needed.
  • Ensure all signage, lighting, and exterior features are clean, functional, and well-presented.
  • Monitor weather-related concerns (e.g., heavy rain, storms) and take preventative measures to protect dealership assets.

Operational Support

  • Assist with moving equipment, furniture, and inventory as needed.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from management and staff.
  • Coordinate and oversee outside contractors performing maintenance or repairs.
  • Maintain a schedule of preventative maintenance for all building systems.
  • Ensure all maintenance tools, vehicles, and supplies are well organized and secure.

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain safe working conditions by following all dealership and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or needed repairs to management immediately.
  • Support environmental compliance related to waste management, chemical storage, and stormwater control.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of facility or property maintenance experience, preferably in an automotive, commercial, or retail environment.
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC maintenance.
  • Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform physical labor.
