Position SummaryAs a Medical Assistant at Vivia Health, you will play a critical role in improving the health and well-being of a diverse patient population by assisting with patient care in both primary care and behavioral health settings. This role requires collaboration with Family Nurse Practitioners, the Nursing Consultant, and an interdisciplinary care team to deliver preventative care, chronic disease management, and promote overall wellness. Your contributions will help provide compassionate, patient-centered care to the communities of Rogers Park and Bucktown.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Care & Documentation:
- Perform and record patient vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints in the EHR system (AthenaOne preferred).
- Assist Family Nurse Practitioners during medical examinations and procedures.
- Prepare and administer medications under the supervision of the Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Collect, prepare, and label laboratory specimens for processing.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and ensure timely documentation of results.
- Instruct patients on medication usage, dietary guidelines, and followup care.
- Communicate test results and care instructions to patients as directed by healthcare providers.
- Answer calls, respond to patient inquiries, and coordinate followup visits as necessary.
- Sterilize instruments and ensure proper functioning of medical equipment.
- Maintain and reorder inventory of medical supplies as needed to support clinic operations.
- Manage and coordinate medical and psychiatric referrals to ensure timely and appropriate patient access to specialist care.
- Track referral progress, follow up with patients, and confirm completion of appointments.
- Facilitate and follow through with the preauthorization process for medications, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve authorization issues promptly.
- Assist with insurance coding, billing, and claims processing to ensure timely reimbursement.
