Overview
We're hiring a Project Manager / Estimator to lead heavy-civil, sitework, and infrastructure projects throughout Grove City and the greater Columbus suburbs. This hybrid role manages both pre-construction estimating and full project execution, ensuring accurate bids, efficient field operations, and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate brings strong civil construction experience and the ability to coordinate crews, budgets, schedules, and client communication across multiple active projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Pre-Construction
- Review drawings and scope documents for earthwork, utilities, concrete, paving, and site-development projects.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor scopes, and contingencies.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for earthmoving, concrete, asphalt, and utility systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and clients to clarify scope and propose value-engineering options.
- Maintain historical pricing data to improve accuracy and competitiveness of future bids.
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop project execution plans, resource allocations, procurement schedules, and site logistics.
- Coordinate equipment, subcontractors, crews, and suppliers to ensure efficient project starts.
- Utilize digital tools for planning, progress tracking, and reporting.
Project Execution & Field Oversight
- Supervise field operations to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, safety, and quality standards.
- Identify scope changes, troubleshoot on-site challenges, and implement timely corrective actions.
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain industry-standard compliance across all work activities.
Budget Control & Reporting
- Track job costs vs. estimate for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Manage change orders and communicate cost or schedule impacts to stakeholders.
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, equipment logs, and close-out records.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as main contact for clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal teams.
- Present bids, clarify assumptions, and support negotiations.
- Coordinate pre-construction planning with field execution to maintain alignment and performance expectations.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in heavy-civil, site-development, earthwork, utilities, concrete, paving, or related civil construction work.
- Strong ability to read and interpret civil plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Skilled in estimating: quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, bid preparation, scheduling, and budget control.
- Experienced in project management, crew coordination, resource allocation, and field oversight.
- Familiarity with modern civil construction tech, including GPS-guided equipment and digital field tools.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Strong financial and analytical abilities for budgeting and cost tracking.
- Valid driver's license and ability to visit and manage job sites.
