Overview

A leading construction contractor with a strong presence across the New Jersey and Greater Tri-State market is seeking a
Business Development Executive
to support its continued growth. This individual will play a key role in identifying new opportunities, building strategic client relationships, and supporting the company's long-term market strategy across public and private sectors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the construction industry, excellent communication skills, and the ability to engage effectively with owners, agencies, developers, consultants, and key industry stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development strategies to expand the company's presence across New Jersey and surrounding markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with public agencies, private developers, architects, engineers, and industry partners.
  • Identify, track, and qualify new project opportunities across infrastructure, transportation, and building sectors.
  • Lead early-stage client engagement, ensuring the company is well-positioned for upcoming bids and RFPs.
  • Collaborate with estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams to develop pursuit strategies and win themes.
  • Support proposal development, presentations, and submission efforts, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  • Attend industry events, networking functions, and pre-bid meetings to represent the company and gather market intelligence.
  • Monitor competitive activity, emerging markets, and industry trends to inform strategic planning.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of opportunities, contacts, and pipeline development via CRM or internal reporting tools.
  • Act as a key ambassador for the company's brand, values, and reputation in the marketplace.

Qualifications

  • Experience in business development, client relations, preconstruction, estimating, project management, or a related function within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of New Jersey construction markets, agencies, and procurement processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to build lasting professional relationships and represent the company in a polished, credible manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and operational teams.
  • Self-motivated, strategic, and proactive in identifying new business opportunities.
