Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires proficiency in medical office management systems, strong communication skills, and a solid understanding of medical terminology and billing processes. Experience with EMR , epic, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and Dr. chrono is highly preferred. Bilingual abilities and prior clinic or dental office experience are considered valuable assets. The Medical Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally at the front desk, managing multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette
- Schedule patient appointments using EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures accurately
- Collect payments and process medical billing using CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical collection protocols
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation review processes
- Assist with intake procedures, patient check-in/out, and updating patient information in electronic health records (EHR systems) such as eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
- Manage appointment reminders and coordinate care plans with healthcare providers
- Support administrative tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and document management using Microsoft Office tools
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and handling sensitive data appropriately
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth office operations and provide excellent patient service
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role; clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures including Medicare processing
- Familiarity with health information management standards and HIPAA compliance requirements
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; experience with multi-line phone systems preferred
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and insurance verification processes
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Prior experience working in a healthcare setting such as clinics or hospitals is advantageous
- Strong communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and customer service orientation
