Dietary Aide

Summary

As a Dietary Aide at Onyx Care of Bernice, you will play a vital role in ensuring the nutritional well-being of our patients. You will assist with meal preparation, serving, and maintenance of our kitchen and dining areas, while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will make a significant difference in the lives of our patients.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient trays according to instructions and diet order.
• Assists in preparation and portioning of meal items according to menu and diet requirements.
• Covers, dates, and labels leftovers and open items properly.
• Employs proper food handling techniques in preparation of food and setting up or serving trays.
• Cleans, washes, and sanitizes dishes, silverware, and utensils using correct method.
• Assists in maintaining the general cleanliness of the dishwashing area.
• Cleans work area and equipment as assigned.
• Puts up stock in food storage areas, including dry storage, freezers, and refrigerators, as assigned.
• Delivers food, nourishments, and supplies to nursing units and other areas as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required, post-secondary education in food service or related field preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

Other Duties

Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances. Performs other work duties as assigned.
