Your impact

Join Siemens in Horseheads, NY and help launch the first U.S.‑built high‑speed trains. Our new facility—nearly 300,000 sq. ft. with approximately 300 new roles—will anchor a new era of American rail manufacturing.

Role snapshot
  • Build and integrate mechanical components and pneumatic piping per drawings, specs, and work instructions.
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
  • Use hand/power tools safely; obtain certifications for crane, forklift, and fall protection when required.
  • Record labor, complete work orders, and maintain accurate quality documentation.
  • Deliver workmanship that meets company standards and achieve schedule/quality/labor goals with limited supervision.
  • Troubleshoot issues and coach peers on procedures as needed.
  • Follow all safety requirements and consistently wear required PPE.
Minimum qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • English literacy for reading instructions and verbal communication.
  • Ability to comprehend written instructions, memos, and technical materials.
  • General mechanical/technical background.
  • Ability to work independently and within small teams.
Preferred qualifications
  • Familiarity with the metric system.
  • 3–5 years assembling heavy vehicles or machinery (e.g., trucks, military equipment, aircraft, ships).
  • Understanding of pneumatic piping schematics.
  • Experience cutting, bending, and soldering stainless‑steel tubing with related connection methods.
Physical requirements
  • Frequent walking; reaching; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Regular climbing of stairs, steps, and ladders.
  • Work performed on elevated platforms and overhead.
  • Lift and move up to 40 pounds.
  • Vision capabilities including close/distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus.
  • Willingness to work in non‑climate‑controlled areas and, when needed, in inclement weather.
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.
Compensation and benefits

Pay: $21.5/hr. Actual wage may be lower or higher based on budget, experience, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.

Benefit details:

Training and travel requirement

Expect significant U.S. and international travel for extended periods during at least your first 24 months (possibly longer) to complete vital in‑person training for you and the Horseheads operation. Business travel expenses are covered per company policy.
