Grinder Operator

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Grinder Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating grinding equipment to produce high-precision components, ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety protocols. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, blueprint reading, and the use of various fabrication tools. The Grinder Operator plays a critical part in maintaining the efficiency and quality of our production line, supporting the creation of complex parts with precision.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate grinding machines, including CNC grinding equipment, to shape metal parts according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing instructions to determine grinding requirements.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to inspect parts for accuracy and quality.
• Perform routine maintenance on grinding machines and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
• Adjust machine settings based on material type and desired tolerances, ensuring optimal performance.
• Collaborate with team members to coordinate machining operations and meet production deadlines.
• Conduct quality inspections during and after grinding processes to ensure parts meet specifications.
• Follow safety procedures related to machine operation, handling sheet metal, and working with heavy tooling or crane equipment.

Skills

• Proficiency in operating CNC grinding machines and familiarity with CNC programming.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including plasma cutting, electrical discharge machining, press brake operations, CNC lathe, milling machines, stamping presses, welding, and fabrication techniques.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings (GD&T).
• Experience with tooling setup, calibration of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers), and quality inspection tools.
• Ability to work with hand tools and operate heavy machinery such as cranes or forklifts safely.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tolerances.
• Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication and assembly processes is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
