Job Summary

Proclamation: Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers (H-1B)
, VSU will not be sponsoring any new H-1B visa petitions until further notice.

The
Department of Teacher Education
seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position for their education and special education programs beginning August 1, 2026. Position is an on-campus position with rank of
Assistant Professor
.The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (face-to-face and online) in the teacher education department, maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

The Department of Teacher Education is comprised of 30 faculty with 26 initial teacher, advanced teacher, and service degree programs.The department supports students at all levels of their career pathways and is a partner with schools and programs throughout the South Georgia region.

Responsibilities
Department Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching up to 12 credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring); maintaining scholarly productivity; participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Typical Allocation of Duties:
Teaching and scholarship - 80%
Teaches classes and conducts/presents research in the employee's academic discipline.

Service - 20%
Participates in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Required Qualifications

  • A terminal degree in Education (such as Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Education, Special Education) or a closely related field by the appointment date
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship
  • Experience teaching PK-12 students

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in an elementary classroom
  • Experience teaching in a special education environment
  • Face-to-Face and Online teaching experience in higher education

Proposed Salary

Commensurate with experience.
