Direct Care Staff

Summary
Pegasus Schools, Inc. is seeking energetic, motivated individuals to join our team as Direct Care Staff (DCS) in a residential treatment facility. In this role, you'll provide supervision, safety, and daily care for male residents ages 10–17 in a therapeutic residential treatment setting. Our approach emphasizes trauma-informed care, cultural responsiveness, and youth protection.

Whether you have experience or are brand new to the field, we provide paid training and orientation (including CPR, First Aid, and CPI certification). Starting pay without experience is $14/hr.

The most important quality we look for is positive role modeling—our best staff often come with no experience but bring a strong work ethic, good character, and genuine care for kids.

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous line-of-sight supervision of assigned residents
• Interact with residents during daily routines (hygiene, meals, chores, school transitions, and recreation)
• Respond quickly to escalating behaviors, medical issues, or emergencies
• Implement crisis de-escalation and emergency behavior interventions as trained
• Emphasize trauma-informed care principles, cultural responsiveness, and youth protection in all interactions and interventions
• Accurately document incidents, interventions, and daily logs in compliance with licensing standards
• Complete and submit reports in a timely and accurate manner
• Maintain certifications and attend required training sessions

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older
• Must have valid Driver's License or Identification Card
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must pass Health and Human Services Commission background checks,
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening, and Tuberculosis skin test (TB)
• Reliable transportation required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk 3–5 miles daily on uneven terrain and supervise outdoor activities
• Perform sustained walking, standing, kneeling, bending, and stair climbing
• Lift up to 50 lbs in emergencies or support situations
• Remain on feet for prolonged periods (8+ hours)
• Move quickly across campus in all weather conditions to respond to emergencies

• Sun: 6am–10pm, Mon: 2pm–10pm, Tues: 2pm–10pm, Wed: 2pm–10pm

OR

• Wed: 2pm–10pm, Thur: 2pm–10pm, Fri: 2pm–10pm, Sat: 6am–10pm
