Position Description
The Sourcing & Procurement Consultant or Senior Consultant is responsible for partnering closely with our clients' sourcing and procurement departments and other functional stakeholders to support various business improvement initiatives with a goal of achieving deeper and sustainable cost savings.

Candidates must be self-starters with proven experience leading strategic sourcing projects. A strategic mindset, agility, and the ability to learn quickly are vital. The ability to take on new challenges and extend beyond one's comfort zone is required.

Role Summary:

  • Lead multiple teams (Client and Velocity) on the execution and delivery of large-scale transformational sourcing projects, end-to-end, through input and guidance around category and sourcing strategy
  • Validate efficiencies specific to TCO (total cost of ownership) analysis and market research to develop robust sourcing strategies and recommendations
  • Build, maintain and manage relationships with key client stakeholders
  • Manage process for engaging with client suppliers to identify continuous cost improvement opportunities
  • Lead process discussion with client stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities
  • Schedule and lead presentations on project results including identified savings and recommendations to client executives
  • Create and explain score cards that provide in-depth analysis on sourcing results to guide client decisions
  • Act as subject matter expert on all sourcing to contract activities for both internal and client stakeholders. Represent thought leadership and a deep understanding of category cost drivers and market intelligence. Support business development pursuits.
  • Demonstrate leadership guiding teams on source to contract and category management
  • Create, develop and expand category eminence, strategies/services to demonstrate Velocity's expertise and market presence.
  • Manage team's build out of category knowledge and category strategies
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and leading-edge practices
  • Delegate action to teams to address escalated issues to ensure client satisfaction
  • Finalize consulting decisions by guiding teams through large complex negotiations and contracting process
  • Provide mentoring and motivate diverse client engagement teams by delivering constructive on-the-job coaching to team members, while fostering an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment.
  • Drive high-quality work within expected timeframes and within budget. Monitor progress, manage risk and ensure clients are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes.
  • Build relationships with client personnel and deliver quality client services. Strive to assist our clients to uncover additional areas of opportunity and manage the business development process.
  • Understand Velocity and its service lines and actively assess what the firm can deliver to better serve our clients.

- A bachelor's degree or master's degree
- 5+ years of experience of sourcing and procurement (in a consulting environment is a plus)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working across indirect and direct spend categories
- Demonstrated expertise in sourcing and procurement
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead a team of professionals on multiple projects
- Ability to scope client engagements and leading the client proposal process
- Deep knowledge in at least one of the specific areas of expertise: strategic sourcing, category management, total supplier risk, source to pay, procure to pay, supplier relationship management, or spend analytics
- Ability and openness to travel infrequently on an as-needed basis
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the Unites States without limitation
- Experience gained within another large professional services organization
- Established networking skills in a relevant industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills
- Flexible and adaptable to changes from the client or internal stakeholders
- Demonstrated track record of delivering results
- 5+ years of experience providing and/or leading the following activities:

  • Developing project workplans including defining activities and milestones
  • Performing historical spend analysis to establish baseline and developing savings model using Excel
  • Executing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis
  • Experience/knowledge in one or more of the following categories – IT/Telecom, Marketing, Facilities, HR, MRO, Professional Services, or Travel
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
