Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise across various specialties, including emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and acute care settings. This role involves providing comprehensive patient assessments, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient-centered care. Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks is essential. The Nurse Practitioner will also be involved in medical documentation, procedures such as suturing, IV infusion, catheterization, and advanced diagnostics like sonography and cardiac catheterization. A strong background in hospital medicine, telehealth, hospice & palliative medicine, and specialty areas such as dermatology, infectious disease care, or neurocritical care is highly desirable.
Duties
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments across diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal, and adult patients.
- Diagnose illnesses and develop individualized treatment plans utilizing clinical research data and evidence-based practices.
- Administer injections, perform suturing, IV insertions, catheter care, and other procedures with sterile technique.
- Manage acute pain through appropriate interventions such as nerve blocks or medication management; handle airway management and ventilator support when necessary.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and coding (ICD-9/10, CPT).
- Coordinate discharge planning, case management, utilization review, and telehealth consultations to optimize patient outcomes.
- Provide health coaching on nutrition, disease prevention (e.g., diabetes management), family planning, and post-acute care strategies.
- Engage in infection control practices including infection prevention protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with specialists in areas such as cardiology (cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (ophthalmology), or occupational health to deliver comprehensive care.
- Participate in laboratory specimen collection/processing and medical imaging procedures as needed.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive patient information across multiple platforms.
Qualifications
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license with current certification in relevant specialties such as family practice, emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics or critical care.
- Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding is preferred.
- Extensive clinical experience in hospital settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers; ICU experience highly valued.
- Demonstrated proficiency in procedures like suturing, phlebotomy, venipuncture, IV infusion/insertion; experience with dialysis or gastrostomy feeding is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy; ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using sonography or medical imaging techniques.
- Experience working with diverse populations including assisted living residents, hospice patients, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration; commitment to maintaining HIPAA standards.
- Additional skills such as telehealth experience or familiarity with specialized fields like dermatology (dermal fillers), infectious disease care or psychopharmacology are advantageous.
