Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our home health team. The ideal candidate will support patient recovery and independence by assisting with therapy plans across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. This role requires a strong foundation in patient care, medical terminology, and anatomy, with a focus on improving patients' functional abilities through personalized interventions.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed Occupational Therapists in implementing individualized care plans for diverse patient populations, including geriatrics and pediatrics.
- Support patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility exercises to promote independence.
- Help monitor and document patient progress, ensuring adherence to prescribed therapy goals.
- Facilitate therapeutic activities tailored to specific needs in acute care, outpatient clinics, or home health settings.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients during therapy sessions.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and effective communication regarding treatment plans.
- Assist with the setup of medical imaging or other diagnostic procedures as needed within the scope of practice.
Requirements
- Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy practice.
- Experience working in inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health environments preferred.
- Familiarity with care plans for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, and patients recovering from acute conditions.
- Strong patient care skills with the ability to assist with ADLs and promote patient engagement.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and follow detailed treatment protocols.
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient interaction.
- Prior experience in occupational health or inpatient/outpatient therapy is advantageous but not mandatory.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, PRN
Pay: $ $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
