As part of our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) group, the Controls Engineer plays a central role in shaping the future of automation at Dekko. This isn't a behind-the-scenes support role - it's hands-on, high-ownership work that keeps our systems running, elevates our capabilities and helps drive smarter, safer, more efficient production across the plant. If you're energized by solving complex problems, making things run better and collaborating with teams that actually value your expertise, this is where you'll thrive.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, program, and support PLC and HMI systems for new and existing production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot control system issues to minimize production downtime and ensure system reliability.
  • Work cross-functionally with maintenance and operations teams to resolve day-to-day production issues.
  • Design and modify electrical control panels, wiring diagrams, and documentation in compliance with safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E, OSHA).
  • Support capital projects, new equipment installations, and plant expansions involving automation or control integration.
  • Maintain and improve control logic for optimal equipment performance and energy efficiency.
  • Implement safety interlocks and machine-safeguarding features using control system hardware and software.
  • Conduct training for maintenance technicians on control systems and troubleshooting best practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of control systems, including backups of all PLC/HMI programs.
  • Stay informed on emerging automation technologies and recommend solutions to enhance plant productivity.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in controls or automation engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation, including PLC programming (Allen-Bradley preferred), HMI development, and machine control systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, motor controls, sensors, VFDs, and industrial safety standards.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in fast-paced production settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, etc.), and fieldbus protocols.
  • Effective communicator and strong team collaborator.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN for schematic design.
  • Knowledge of robotic systems, servo motion, or vision inspection tools.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
  • Experience in food, automotive, electronics, or consumer goods manufacturing environments.
