Duties
- Greet patients warmly and provide excellent customer service at the front desk, ensuring a positive first impression
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments utilizing dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verifications using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Collect payments, process medical billing, and manage collections with attention to accuracy and HIPAA compliance
- Maintain accurate patient records by updating electronic health records (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or EMR platforms
- Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, handle appointment inquiries, and direct calls appropriately
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including intake forms and care plans, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage medical records filing, data entry, and correspondence to support seamless clinic operations
- Assist with medical administrative support tasks such as medical scheduling, intake procedures, and office management duties
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical or dental office setting with strong clerical and administrative skills
- Familiarity with dental terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and medical billing practices
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Meditech, Epic or Athenahealth; experience with Meditech or eClinicalWorks is a plus
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards in healthcare environments
- Excellent phone etiquette with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing proficiency (10 key typing)
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Clinic experience or dental office experience preferred; familiarity with dental terminology is advantageous
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry
- Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and positive attitude
