Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Advanced Assisting

  • Provide advanced chairside assisting across a variety of procedures

Operational Excellence

  • Support daily clinical operations and optimize workflow
  • Partner with the doctor and front office to ensure smooth schedules and communication
  • Oversee operatory readiness, supplies, and clinical systems
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and patient experience
  • Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficiency and patient comfort.
  • Manage clinical workflows by coordinating patient schedules and supporting the dental reception team to optimize appointment flow.
  • Maintain and operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices in accordance with safety standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and safety.
  • Train and supervise dental assisting staff in chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry techniques, and proper use of EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
  • Prepare and manage medical documentation, medical records, and coding for accurate record-keeping and billing processes.
  • Oversee inventory management of dental supplies and materials while maintaining compliance with infection control standards.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies such as digital X-ray systems or 3D imaging tools to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and the clinical team to ensure clear communication regarding treatment plans and procedures.

Experience

  • Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant within a busy dental clinic environment, with a minimum of three years preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with prior supervisory or lead assistant responsibilities highly desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices.
  • Proficiency in managing electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic is advantageous.
  • Skilled in taking X-rays, performing vital signs assessments, medical imaging, and utilizing advanced diagnostic tools like 3D scanners.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, medical documentation standards, medical coding practices, and insurance billing processes related to dental care.
