As we continue to expand, we are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive HR Generalist to join our Human Resources Department.

Position Overview

The HR Generalist will work directly with the HR Director and serve as a key partner in supporting the full employee lifecycle. This role requires strong knowledge of state and federal labor laws, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.

The ideal candidate has hands-on HR experience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about employee support and organizational compliance.

Key Responsibilities Onboarding & Training Support

  • Assist with new hire onboarding including paperwork verification, compliance requirements, orientation scheduling, and system setup.
  • Partner with Store Managers and Area Managers to ensure new hires complete required trainings within established timelines.
  • Support the HR Director in facilitating HR trainings and compliance modules.

Employee Relations & Support

  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding policies, procedures, leave processes, benefits information, and HR inquiries.
  • Document employee interactions and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Assist with workplace investigations, corrective action documentation, and follow-up tasks as directed.

Compliance & Labor Law

  • Ensure compliance with California, Arizona, and Oregon state labor laws, as well as federal employment regulations (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate employee files and support audit readiness.
  • Assist with annual mandatory trainings and ongoing policy updates.

Performance & HR Processes

  • Assist with performance evaluation tracking, documentation, and distribution.
  • Support disciplinary processes, including preparing notices, scheduling meetings, and documenting outcomes.
  • Assist with offboarding, exit interviews, documentation, and ensuring proper procedures are followed.

Administrative & Operational HR Support

  • Maintain HR trackers, spreadsheets, reports, and documentation as assigned.
  • Assist with updating HR policies, employee handbook content, forms, and process improvements.
  • Provide ongoing administrative and operational support to the HR Director and department.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of HR experience required.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal labor laws (California HR experience highly preferred).
  • Experience with HRIS systems (Zoho People, Paylocity, or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in retail or multi-location industries.
  • Experience supporting compliance trainings and HR audits.
  • Strong proficiency in Google Workspace and Excel.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $47, $60,320.00 per year
