Are you a skilled and safety-conscious individual with forklift experience? Our Grand Rapids, Michigan facility is seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to join our logistics team. In this essential role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Your precision and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to ensuring smooth warehouse operations and preventing accidents. This position is key to our supply chain, supporting the accurate handling of materials and ensuring timely distribution.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, electric) safely and efficiently to move goods within the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas, ensuring correct placement.
- Perform routine checks on forklift equipment to ensure it is in good working order and report any issues.
- Follow all safety regulations and guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and traffic management within the warehouse.
- Wear all required PPE, including safety shoes, vests, and helmets as needed.
- Assist with inventory management, cycle counts, and stock placement.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, keeping aisles and work areas clear.
- Identify and report any damaged goods or safety hazards.
- Support other warehouse operations as needed, contributing to the overall logistics goals.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or industrial setting.
- Valid forklift certification or the ability to obtain one.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and good spatial awareness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent understanding of safe lifting and material handling.
- Commitment to wearing required PPE at all times.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
