*What You’ll Do*
* *AI Architecture & System Design:* Help optimize our "Sherlock" engine using frontier agent harnesses + full sandboxed case workspace/evidence filesystem access + terminal tools (essentially "Claude Code for detectives") to efficiently and accurately answer questions and accomplish tasks across thousands of unstructured evidence files common in today's evidence and crime landscape at the level of a world class detective. Will be focused on helping precisely designing and engineering the system to think, act, reason, and behave like a personal, tireless junior detective for every detective using it; making sure it has access to the same tools real detectives use today, uses both industry standard and innovative investigative techniques, and leverages the efficiency advantages of modern hardware and the intelligence of modern models to provide the best possible product and user experience for our customers.
* *Data Ingestion and Ontology:* Build and maintain integrated systems and ontological pipelines that ingest data from diverse sources like Axon (Video), Flock (LPR), Cellebrite (Mobile Forensics), uploaded files (e.g. documents, PDFs, images, video, audio, and more common evidence file formats), RMS/CAD systems, and more; then extract link graphs, timelines, and location maps, from them into our AWS GovCloud hosted Nightwave knowledge foundation (which connects to our AI engine)
* *Data Curation, Continous Learning, and Specialized Finetuning:* Automate the creation of large-scale synthetic datasets to train our models without compromising real-world privacy, focusing on maintaining fairness, no bias, and accurate results; train continous learning and improvement RL pipelines with frontier techniques like RLHF and RLVR, including running long term simulations for crime solving to teach our "Sherlock" AI agent innovative techniques for solving crime with evidence backed proof, logic , and citations/references at every step
* *Full-Stack Development:* Contribute to our modern, high-clarity React/Tailwind frontend, ensuring the UI is optimized for high-stress detective environments and optimal UX for real detective needs and low friction; keeping in mind users may be non-tech savvy old school law enforcement professionals
*Requirements*
* Working on or completed a Bachelor's degree in CSE, CIS, or Data Analytics.
* Proficiency in *Python, Typescript, next-generation AI agent tech stacks and frameworks (e.g. LangGraph and Deepagents, Claude Agent SDK, Recursive Language Models, GraphRAG, E2B Agent Sandboxes, etc.) *and *experience with other coding languages*.
* Experience with (or a strong desire to learn) LLM APIs and agent harnesses, Reinforcement Learning techniques for agents, Vector and Knowledge Graph Databases, and data ontologies.
* A "shippable" mindset, you care about code that actually works in the field, willing to constantly iterate (and fail) with new ideas that have never been tried before and creative high energy mindset (we are very receptive to innovative and creative ideas!)
*Perks for the Role*
* *Direct Impact:* Your code, research, ideas, and changes will be used in live mission critical law enforcement environments on active investigations.
* *Network and Priveleges: *You will be exposed to many other startup founders, investors, advisors, and law enforcement executives in the space to expand your network; We will provide any necessary costs for tools, software, transporation, food, and anything else needed for you to succeed
* *Mentorship and Leadership:* Work directly with the COO and founder in a fast-paced startup environment; cross functional exposure across design, sales, marketing, and customer relations, potential for greater leadership and ownership in the company
* *The Mission:* Help us give hours, capital, and lives back to our communities by modernizing the justice system. We are a justice company, not a tech company.
