About Beatport For over 20 years, Beatport has been the global leader in DJ and club culture, pushing the boundaries of dance music to all corners of the world. Created by DJs for DJs, Beatport has always been dedicated to innovating new products and services to support evolving generations of music performers and producers.
The Beatport Group includes some of the best‑known brands in DJ culture, including Beatport, Beatsource, DJcity, Plugin Boutique, Beatport Streaming, Ampsuite, LabelRadar, Beatport.io & The International Music Summit (IMS). We are consistently looking for bright, creative professionals with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
Where you come in We are seeking a skilled and adaptable data analytics professional to join a nimble and best‑in‑class data team. The role will report to the Director of Intelligence Engineering and share the ownership of the delivery of consistently high quality, actionable analytics projects within The Beatport Group.
The ideal candidate will have 2‑3+ years of direct experience in a typical analytics / insights / BI or a similar style of team. This should include the handling and prioritisation of data requests from both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, and translating these to genuinely actionable solutions as effectively as possible with the tools that you have available to you. The candidate should also have demonstrable experience in the creation and maintenance of a BI reporting stack, including data visualisation expertise, and some experience with ongoing “data governance” and maintaining best practices.
The role will work across the majority of The Beatport Group’s constituent business units, and the candidate will need to be confident in regularly operating between a number of diverse data stacks on a day to day basis. Analytics workstreams will include the analysis of e‑commerce store performance, recurring subscriptions type analysis, web analytics and so on. As the candidate develops, it is expected that they will have greater exposure to our UK based Data Science team’s workstreams, so some exposure to A/B testing methodologies, regression analysis, or any ML libraries would be advantageous too.
This role can be hybrid (London) or remote (but must have UK right to work and be based in the UK). The Technology Group is spread across Europe and North America. The role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and optimising our data analytics infrastructure, enabling genuine proactive data driven decision making across an organisation of passionate music fans.
As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for:
Handling stakeholder requests, and translating these into actionable projects and prioritising appropriately. Understanding the commercial value of what you are being asked to do, and having the confidence and knowledge to ask “why” over and above simply delivering what is asked for.
Writing efficient and scalable BigQuery SQL scripts across multiple business functions within our comprehensive GCP based warehousing.
Translating fast evolving business requirements into consistent Looker models and subsequent Looks and Dashboards.
Collaborating with stakeholders to understand data requirements and configure Looker dashboards and reports to meet business needs, with the ability to translate ambiguous or broad questions into structured workflows.
Spotting data anomalies and/or quality issues and flagging them effectively to the relevant teams.
As a Data Analyst, you will require:
2-3+ years of direct experience in a typical analytics / insights / BI or a similar style of team.
Demonstrable proficiency with SQL, with Google dialects being advantageous here.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross‑functional teams, both technical and non‑technical, and across time zones.
Self‑motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
A willingness to learn and adapt to advances in data analytics, particularly with a view to the use of AI in self‑serve reporting.
An ability to function well in an environment that takes an iterative approach to product testing and rollout, where adaptability is key.
It would be beneficial to have:
Exposure to a scripting language other than SQL (Python, R etc.)
Familiarity with experimentation frameworks and packages (ABTasty would be particularly beneficial).
Experience with data build tool (dbt).
Experience with segmentation modelling (LTV, time series, churn dynamics etc.)
Music industry experience and/or an interest in DJ culture.
