Join ImpactLife as a Reference Laboratory Technologist

Location: Springfield, Illinois | On-Site Position | Schedule: Full time position working Friday, Saturday, and Sundays 8:00 p.m.-8:00 a.m. (with the option to add 4 hours during the week for 40 hours total)

Pay Information: Minimum base pay rate of $28.50 per hour plus shift premiums. Final pay is determined based on experience and certifications held.

ImpactLife, a mission-driven blood center, is seeking a Reference Laboratory Technologist to join our dedicated team of professionals.

About the Role

As a Reference Laboratory Technologist, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality, complex serological testing and consultation. Your expertise in antibody identification, antigen typing, and problem resolution will ensure timely and accurate provision of life-saving blood products. You'll work closely with both internal and external healthcare teams to support critical transfusion services in our immunohematology lab.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced serological testing such as antibody ID, crossmatching, antigen typing, and other specialized techniques
  • Resolve complex patient antibody problems to support appropriate transfusion therapy
  • Maintain testing quality and compliance with cGMP, CLIA, and safety standards
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and systems
  • Accurately document results and consult with hospital staff as needed
  • Contribute to inventory control of reagents and blood products
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to urgent testing needs
  • Foster a collaborative and professional work environment, aligned with ImpactLife's values

What You Bring

  • Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year of advanced blood banking experience with a Bachelor's degree
  • OR 2 years with an Associate's degree
  • Education (must meet CLIA requirements):
  • Bachelor's in Medical Laboratory Science, Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science
  • OR Associate's in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Certification (at least one required):
  • MLS/MT (ASCP), BB (ASCP), or MLT (ASCP) or equivalent
  • Physical Abilities:
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand or sit for long periods, and use personal protective equipment
  • Must tolerate a laboratory setting with moderate noise and daily exposure to blood products
  • Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and insurability (occasional travel may be required)
  • Must be able to participate in an on-call rotation
