About the Role

As a Field Service Technician, you will perform on-site support, electrical/mechanical repair, and electrical/programming service for MGS machinery located at customer sites worldwide. This includes troubleshooting, on-site repairs, in-field rebuilds/upgrades, installation support, and both informal and formal operator training.

This is a highly visible, customer-facing role that requires professionalism, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to represent MGS with a high level of technical expertise and customer service.

In this role, you will be expected to:

• Perform on-site setup, installation, and contracted or periodic maintenance of MGS machinery.
• Troubleshoot and repair machinery (electrical and mechanical), down to the component level.
• Support in-field rebuilds and upgrades of customer equipment.
• Provide service information by phone, email, or on-site visits.
• Assist customers with ordering replacement parts.
• Lead teams as required, including instructing contractors on lifting, assembly, and wiring of machinery.
• Train customer personnel in the safe operation and maintenance of equipment (formal and informal).
• Conduct site acceptance testing on MGS machinery at customer facilities.
• Train other service technicians as needed.
• Communicate recommended or required design changes to engineering.
• Submit detailed service reports, expense reports, and daily time sheets accurately and on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Service Manager.

What You Need to Be Successful

General Characteristics

• Mechanically and electrically skilled.
• Computer-literate, skilled problem solver, and customer service oriented.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Professional attitude and strong customer service mindset.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience building and installing packaging or automation equipment.

Position Requirements

• Technical degree or equivalent work experience with packaging/automation equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot, test, and repair technical equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical diagrams.
• Experience with hand tools and power tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Learning mindset with adaptability to new designs and equipment.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 80%.
• Physically able to meet job requirements, including lifting heavy equipment, bending frequently, and working in confined spaces.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Extensive travel required (primarily by plane and car).
• Work performed in a variety of production/assembly plant environments, ranging from refrigerated/wet to hot/dry conditions.
• Use of standard personal protective equipment (PPE) required, including safety glasses, hair/beard nets, steel-toed shoes, bump caps, lab coats, gloves, and others as needed.

• The salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $88,000 annually.
