Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, managing patient care, and ensuring smooth daily operations. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, infection control protocols, and proficiency with dental software systems. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in delivering high-quality dental care; specifically pediatric dentistry. The position offers an engaging environment where patient comfort and clinical excellence are prioritized.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative, preventative and pediatric treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety
- Manage patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort
- Monitor vital signs and medical history to ensure patient safety before procedures
- Maintain strict infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures
- Educate patients on oral health care instructions and post-treatment care
- Ensure adherence to dental terminology standards and maintain knowledge of anatomy relevant to dental procedures
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for patient confidentiality
- Familiarity with X-ray techniques
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques
- Experience in pediatric dentistry is preferred but not required
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members
- Certification in coronal polishing and radiography or X-ray technology is highly desirable
