We are seeking a skilled and compassionate
Echocardiograph Technologist
to join our cardiovascular imaging team in
Portland, OR
. In this role, you will perform comprehensive echocardiographic exams and assist in a variety of specialized cardiac procedures, helping to diagnose cardiovascular conditions accurately and efficiently.
You will collaborate closely with cardiologists and other medical professionals in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment while maintaining the highest quality standards as outlined by the
American Society of Echocardiography
and departmental protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform adult cardiac ultrasound studies based on physician orders using advanced echocardiography equipment.
- Identify and document cardiac anatomy and pathology clearly and accurately.
Assist physicians during complex procedures including:
Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)
- Echo-guided trans-catheter procedures
- Pericardiocentesis
- Echo-guided myocardial biopsies
- Contrast-enhanced exams
Exercise and pharmacologic stress testing
Modify imaging techniques based on patient needs and diagnostic requirements.
- Follow ASE and institutional standards for image acquisition, reporting, and documentation.
- Participate in shared call rotation including weekends, evenings, and coverage across Portland-area facilities.
- Ensure proper equipment maintenance and participate in quality assurance processes.
- Maintain BLS certification and keep all required licensure up to date.
Required Qualifications
- Oregon Sonographer License (active) - Upon hire
National Certification - One of the following upon hire:
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS - ARDMS)
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS - CCI)
Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (Client - CCI)
BLS Certification (AHA) - Upon hire
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Applied Science from a CAAHEP-accredited program in:
Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technology or
Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Minimum 1 year of experience performing cardiovascular ultrasound exams OR
Minimum 800 exams completed using all imaging modalities
Experience in pediatric echocardiography
- Experience supporting patients with mechanical circulatory support devices
- Familiarity with echo-guided trans-catheter cardiac procedures
