The incumbent should expect to be scheduled 28 hours per week for 5 days.
General Purpose
Performs a variety of routine work in preparing and serving food and beverages and performing kitchen clean-up activities.
Supervision Received
Works under the general supervision of the Senior Services Manager

None.Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Washes, peels, and cuts up vegetables and fruits; opens canned goods.
- Transports food, supplies, and equipment to and from kitchen, dining area, storeroom, refrigerator and freezers.
- Provides general custodial support.
- Operates standard kitchen appliances and equipment such as coffee maker, toaster, dishwasher, grill, slicer, oven and mixer.
- Sets, clears, and washes dining room tables; washes dishes and utensils; cleans and polishes silverware; scrubs, mops, and cleans kitchen, dining, refrigeration, or garbage areas; boils and scours steam tables and coffee urns.
- Serves food individually or from steam table; loads and clears steam table.
- Courteously responds to senior center attendees, staff and other visitors to the building.
- Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to temporarily serve in other facilities.
Peripheral Duties
Attends training sessions required by the department.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D.
- Three (3) months experience in food handling and general food preparation.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of modern methods of food preparation and serving foods and beverages in large quantities; knowledge of the principles of sanitation including health and safety practices and proper cleaning methods; knowledge of kitchen utensils and equipment; and
- Skill in the operation of the listed equipment; and
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisor and the public; Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule; Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions; Ability to perform light to moderate lifting and to stand for long periods of time.

Special Requirements
Must possess current Food Worker Card and CPR/First Aid Card.

Gas range and stove, griddle, grill, steam table, salad bar, refrigerator, freezer, ice maker, dishwasher, garbage disposal, meat slicer, mixer, food processor, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, waffle iron, various cooking utensils and knives, mop, broom and cleaning solutions.
