Title
Senior Engineer I, Converged Network Engineering (Managed Services)

Description
The role of the Senior Engineer I, Converged Network Engineering, is to plan and coordinate the design, installation, and connectivity of computer and network systems to ensure the stable operation of ivision and client networks. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links. The Sr. Network Engineer will also resolve ivision and client network incidents in a timely and accurate fashion in a 24x7x365 day operational environment.

Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning

  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to make certain network capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and providing network performance statistics and reports.
  • Establish best practices for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network based hardware, to include Firewalls, Routers, Switches, and Unified Communication technologies.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation for both ivision and Client devices.
  • Collaborate with ivision leadership on Managed Services service level agreements and processes.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across ivision and client's networks.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
  • Work with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to evaluate network products and services.
  • Assess, approve, and administer all equipment, hardware, and software upgrades following ivision Managed Services Change Management process.

Operational Management

  • Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, wireless controllers and access points, and unified communications devices from a variety of manufacturers.
  • Manage and ensure effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the client and organization's executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent network activities.
  • Approve and administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights as it pertains to ivision and client network devices and technologies.
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team.

Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification

  • Four-year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science and/or 6+ years equivalent work experience.
  • The following certifications are highly desired:
  • Cisco CCNP Enterprise
  • Cisco CCNP Service Provider
  • Cisco CCNP Collaboration

Knowledge & Experience

  • 6+ years experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
  • Exceptional technical knowledge of network operating systems, including Cisco IOS, NX-OS, IOS XE
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as servers, routers, switches, firewalls, modems, network interface cards, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards, including TCP/IP
  • Understanding of orchestration and automation methodologies pertaining to the specific needs of a managed services provider
  • Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunications principles.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Experience in a Managed Services environment is a plus

Experience in Public Cloud architectures (Azure/AWS) are a plus

Work Conditions

  • On-call availability for 1 week per month.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
